THE WOODHEAD WAY
Meet the team!
The Woodhead name will be familiar to anybody involved in eventing or dressage – they are a strong family dynasty within the equestrian industry synonymous with empathetic, high quality training and are a highly trusted name in the horse world.
Ian Woodhead
Ian is the patriarch of the family. He has a formidable CV including International European pony trainer in the UK for 15 years, Irish eventing senior team trainer for four years, British eventing senior team trainer for four years including training the Tokyo and the Paris gold medal winning Olympic teams.
Tracy Woodhead
Tracy has had an extremely successful career in both showjumping and dressage, having trained many young horses from four years old through to Grand Prix and held a number of regional and national titles. She now is a very well-respected trainer and has trained many riders to compete on national and international teams.
Amy Woodhead
Amy is the elder sibling; she is an international dressage rider and trainer specialising in educating young horses through to Grand Prix and also training riders through the levels to be on teams up to Grand Prix. She was a member of the Pony and Young Rider European dressage teams. She went to Germany at 16 to work and train for 18 months and then worked for Carl Hester for four years before returning to Weelsby to run a highly regarded professional competition yard schooling and competing dressage horses to international level and training top event horses through the winter.
Holly Woodhead
Holly is an international event rider. She has won team and individual medals at European championships and was the youngest rider since 1989 to be selected onto the senior eventing squad. She won the CCI3*U25 at Bramham horse trials. As a pony rider, Holly represented Great Britain at both eventing and dressage. She now runs a yard near Grantham with her fiancé James, a New Zealand event rider who was longlisted for the Paris Olympic team and enjoys training young horses and riders with great success.
Jenny Martell
Jenny is the professional yard manager, head rider, and international groom for Amy. She has trained young horses from pony days and joined Amy in 2017, working her way up from groom to her current position with a lot of hard work. She rides both the young horses and more established rides, gaining eight regional titles, a national title, and competing at international level at small tour. Jenny recently competed at Grand Prix on MVL Esquadra. She brings a unique twist to our clothing recommendations, with hard working designs and flexibility high on her list of requirements.
Cavallo UK was born because the Woodheads had been wearing and enjoying Cavallo clothing for years, but when friends and clients admired the clothes and asked where to buy them, they were at a loss as much of the clothing was not readily available in the UK. This seemed to be less than ideal so with the help of a long-standing client with 20+ years’ experience in online sales, and with Cavallo Germany pleased to encourage a premium shopping experience in the UK, Cavallo UK is here. The aim is to bring the benefit of high quality and fashionable clothing for rider and horse properly to the UK, which has been engineered with the benefit of many years of experience and rider feedback. The Woodheads feel they can truly endorse the clothes and recommend them to you.
From the Woodhead team
We wear these clothes every day. We are not a clothes supermarket stocking anything and everything, we are dedicated to Cavallo because we love this brand and we hope you love it too.
